Introduction
Lamu life is a platform that helps people find meaningful long-term relationships through curated introductions, facilitated conversations, AI consulting, and real-life experiences. This Privacy Notice explains how lamu life ("lamu.life," "we," "us," or "our") collects and uses your personal information, including what we collect, how we use it, and how we may share it.
Our Services include:
- ◆Our website (the "Site") and any other websites that link to this Privacy Notice;
- ◆Our mobile applications (the "App");
- ◆Our AI matchmaking, consulting, messaging, and community functions;
- ◆Our offline events, activities, and related experiences.
We refer to these collectively as the "Services."
1. What Personal Information Do We Collect?
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with our Services.
A. Personal Information You Provide
- ◆Contact Information: Name, email, phone number, communication preferences.
- ◆Account Information: Profile details such as age, gender, relationship preferences, lifestyle information, survey answers, and login credentials.
- ◆Photos, Audio, Video: Any content you choose to upload (profile pictures, recordings, video introductions).
- ◆Consultation & Feedback: Messages, chats with our AI consultant, feedback forms, ratings, reviews, surveys.
- ◆Payment Information: When paying for registration fees, subscriptions, VIP concierge, or event deposits, we collect billing details (processed securely through third-party payment processors; we do not store full credit card numbers).
- ◆Event Information: RSVP data, attendance confirmations, scheduling preferences, incident reports, no-show deposits.
- ◆Verification Data: Liveness selfies, ID documentation, or other biometric/identity signals for trust and safety.
B. Information We Collect Automatically
- ◆Device Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and — on mobile — advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA on iOS when you allow App Tracking) used for analytics and ad measurement.
- ◆Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, match/intro activity, messages sent, AI chat interactions, logs, crash reports.
- ◆Location Data: Coarse location (from IP). With permission, precise geolocation to recommend nearby matches or activities.
- ◆Cookies & SDKs: For login, security, analytics, preferences, fraud detection, and — in our mobile App — advertising and attribution partners (see Advertising, Cross-App Tracking, and Attribution below).
- ◆App Events (Mobile): Actions such as app installs, registration completion, and purchases may be logged through partner SDKs to measure marketing performance and improve campaigns.
C. Information We Collect From Others
- ◆Other Users (e.g., ratings, reports, or post-meeting feedback).
- ◆Service Providers (verification, anti-fraud, analytics, payment processing).
- ◆Publicly available sources (e.g., to verify identity).
Biometric Data and Identity Verification
For certain events and trust-and-safety features, LAMU uses Stripe Identity (Stripe, Inc.) to verify government-issued identification. Stripe may collect and process biometric identifiers or biometric information (such as facial geometry from a live selfie compared to your ID photo) as part of document and liveness checks.
- ◆What we receive: a verification result (pass/fail), timestamps, and session metadata — not copies of your ID stored on LAMU servers.
- ◆Processor: Stripe processes biometric and identity data under Stripe's Privacy Policy and Stripe Identity terms.
- ◆Illinois BIPA and similar laws: We provide this notice before verification begins. By starting Stripe Identity verification, you acknowledge this disclosure and consent to collection and processing as described here and in our Terms of Use.
- ◆Retention: LAMU stores verification status on your account (for example, verified/not verified and date). Stripe retains verification session data per Stripe's policies.
2. How Do We Use Personal Information?
We use personal information for purposes such as:
- ◆Core Service Delivery: Profile creation, matchmaking, explaining compatibility, AI-facilitated introductions, chat, and friend mode.
- ◆Consulting & Support: Providing AI-based relationship guidance, responding to requests, resolving issues.
- ◆Events & Activities: Scheduling, logistics, safety protocols, deposits/refunds, feedback surveys.
- ◆Safety & Trust: Identity verification, fraud prevention, content moderation, community integrity, enforcing rules.
- ◆Payments: Processing registration, subscription, concierge fees, and deposits.
- ◆Analytics & Improvement: Training and improving our AI and services, research, troubleshooting, performance monitoring.
- ◆Advertising & Attribution: Measuring installs, registrations, subscriptions, and other conversions from our marketing (including ads on platforms such as Meta/Facebook and Instagram), understanding campaign performance, and — where permitted — delivering or measuring personalized ads.
- ◆Communications: Sending confirmations, service updates, reminders, surveys, and (with consent) promotional offers.
- ◆Legal Compliance: Responding to legal requests, preventing unlawful activity, enforcing agreements.
We may use automated decision-making and profiling (for example, to recommend matches or flag risky behavior). You can request human review or contest decisions by emailing support@lamu.life.
Advertising, Cross-App Tracking, and Attribution
Our mobile App may use tools that Apple classifies as "tracking," including App Tracking Transparency (ATT) on iOS. This section describes that processing.
What we use
- ◆Meta (Facebook) SDK: We use Meta's software development kit in the App to measure marketing performance (for example, when you complete registration or make a purchase) and, if you allow tracking, to link activity across apps and websites for advertising and attribution. - ◆Apple App Tracking Transparency: On iOS, we may ask permission to access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you tap "Ask App Not to Track," we do not access IDFA for cross-app tracking; limited measurement (such as privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork attribution) may still occur as allowed by Apple and our ad partners.
- ◆Other measurement tools: We may use additional analytics, crash reporting, or subscription platforms (for example, Sentry or RevenueCat) that are not used for cross-app advertising tracking in the same way as IDFA-based Meta measurement.
What may be shared for tracking
Depending on your device settings and permissions, partners may receive information such as:
- ◆Device and app identifiers (including IDFA if you allow tracking on iOS)
- ◆App install and open events, registration and purchase events, and related metadata
- ◆General device type, OS version, and coarse interaction signals used for attribution
We do not share your dating profile content, messages, photos, or similar sensitive in-app content with Meta for advertising purposes through this SDK.
Your choices
- ◆iOS: When prompted, choose whether to allow tracking. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Lamu.
- ◆Android: You may limit ad personalization in Google account or device settings; our App may request the advertising ID where permitted by the platform.
- ◆Opt-out requests: Email support@lamu.life for privacy rights requests. Some partner opt-outs must be completed through the partner or your device settings.
3. How Do We Share Personal Information?
We do not sell personal information for money. We share only as follows:
- ◆With Other Users: Profile information you choose to share (e.g., name, age, survey results, chat content).
- ◆With Service Providers: Vendors who provide hosting, payments, analytics, advertising measurement and attribution (including Meta), verification, communications, or event logistics — under contracts that limit their use of data to providing services to us.
- ◆For Legal Reasons: To comply with law, protect rights, safety, or respond to lawful requests.
- ◆Business Transfers: If lamu life is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset sale.
- ◆With Consent: Where you direct us to share data.
We do not share your phone number, SMS opt-in data, or text messaging consent with third parties for their own marketing. Advertising and attribution partners (such as Meta) may receive device and app event data as described in Advertising, Cross-App Tracking, and Attribution above; that sharing is for measurement and ads, not for us selling your contact list. All categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information will not be shared with third parties for their marketing.
4. Your Privacy Choices
- ◆Email Preferences: Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the email. You cannot opt out of service-related emails (e.g., security or billing notices).
- ◆SMS & Push Notifications: You may opt out of promotional SMS by replying STOP or changing your App/device settings. Transactional texts (like verification codes or event reminders) will still be sent.
- ◆Cookies: Most browsers let you control or block cookies. Some functionality may be affected.
- ◆Cross-App Tracking (iOS): Control whether Lamu can track you across other companies' apps and websites via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Denying permission limits IDFA-based advertising measurement but does not disable core App features.
- ◆Access, Deletion, Correction, Portability: Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your data. Contact us at support@lamu.life.
- ◆Do Not Sell/Share: You may opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising (as defined under U.S. state privacy laws). We do not sell personal information for money; we may share device and app event data with advertising partners for measurement as described above. Contact support@lamu.life to submit an opt-out request where applicable.
5. Children's Personal Information
lamu.life is for adults 18+ only. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn a user is under 18, we will delete the account. Parents/guardians may contact support@lamu.life to request removal.
6. Links to Third-Party Services
Our Services may link to third-party websites or apps. Their privacy practices are not governed by this Notice. Please review their policies, including Meta's Privacy Policy when you use features that involve Meta advertising or attribution technology in our App.
7. State-Specific Disclosures
- ◆California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah: You may exercise rights under your privacy laws (access, correction, deletion, portability, opt-out of targeted advertising/profiling, and — where applicable — limiting use of sensitive data or cross-context behavioral advertising). This includes rights related to tracking and ad measurement described in Advertising, Cross-App Tracking, and Attribution. Contact: support@lamu.life.
- ◆Nevada: We do not sell personal information as defined under Nevada law. To exercise opt-out rights, contact support@lamu.life.
8. Data Retention
We keep information only as long as necessary for the purposes described, or as required by law. When no longer needed, data will be deleted or de-identified.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data. No system is 100% secure. You use our Services at your own risk. Please report security concerns to support@lamu.life.
10. Artificial Intelligence & Data Processing
To provide our core matchmaking and consulting services, Lamu utilizes advanced AI technologies, primarily the Google Gemini API.
- ◆Third-Party Processing: When using AI features, specific inputs (e.g., your popchat prompts) are transmitted to Google.
- ◆Enterprise Protection (Paid Tier): Lamu utilizes the Google Gemini Paid Tier. This contractually ensures that your data is not used to train foundational AI models and is not subject to human review by the provider.
- ◆User Control: You must provide explicit consent before your data is first shared with an AI partner. You may revoke this consent at any time in the "Privacy Settings" menu, which will disable AI-powered features.

We may update this Notice from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you via email, App notice, or website posting.
