If you are a registered member (paid annual membership fee), you will get 1 free match recommendation every week (either base mode, or courageous mode). You have an option to upgrade to 5 curated match recommendations per week after subscribing to the Lamu Date Plan.

All sales are final — we do not offer refunds or ticket transfers. Our events are for intentional singles willing to show up and connect IRL, and the experience of all attendees depends on every participant's commitment. No-shows and late cancellations greatly disrupt round pairings, so Lamu events may include a late cancellation/no-show fee (amount and cutoff shown at booking).

If your plans change, you must give us a heads up:

• ◆Cancel before the late-cancellation cutoff → no additional fee
• ◆Canceling within the cutoff window → late cancellation fee (amount shown at booking)
• ◆No-show for the event → no-show fee (amount shown at booking)

We understand things come up — if you need to cancel, please let us know ASAP so we can try to fill your spot. You can cancel through our self-serve cancellation or by emailing support@lamu.life.

Speed Dating events cost $25-$80 per person; price may vary depending on the service provided. The fee helps cover the costs of organizing and marketing events, paying our dedicated Lamu live hosts, and continuously improving your experience.

Nope — you're never charged just for joining a waitlist. When you join, we securely save your card (no charge yet) so if a spot opens, booking can happen instantly via text. You'll get a text when there's an opening. Reply BOOK to claim it — that's the only time your card is charged. If you reply too late, you'll get a quick "spot's gone" message and stay on the waitlist for the next opening.

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early, as our events always start on time. Our live events are managed by real people who will be waiting for you in person and organizing round pairings. Timely communication is key. If you're running behind or cannot make it, you MUST give us a heads up.

Without a response 15 minutes into the event, you'll be removed from the participation list. Late arrivals without notice may be marked as no-shows and incur the event's no-show fee. We cannot add you back into the event 15 minutes after it has started, as this disrupts the pairings.

If you're running a few minutes late, we can usually accommodate you — but we need to know in advance.

We do check your ID at the door, so please make sure your age is accurate. If you are not in the age group you signed up for, it will be treated as a last-minute cancellation and will incur a late cancellation fee. If your gender is different from the ticket you signed up for, that will also be treated as a last-minute cancellation, and you will be banned from our community.

Community Ground Rules

We reserve the right to remove any participant due to inappropriate behavior without a refund. This includes but is not restricted to disruptive conduct, failure to respect others, or any violation of the following Ground Rules.

1. 1.Do NOT engage with other participants in a way that harms them or makes them feel uncomfortable. Keep conversations first-date appropriate. Comments that are sexual in nature are not tolerated. If you feel uncomfortable, report the incident directly through the web app.
2. 2.No harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior is tolerated. Prioritize consent, respect boundaries, and be kind, empathetic, and respectful to your dates. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone and take reports of misconduct seriously.
3. 3.While some venues may serve alcohol, participants are expected to monitor their consumption. Intoxicated or belligerent behavior will not be tolerated.

Failure to comply with Lamu's etiquette and rules will result in account suspension or permanent ban from all future offerings.

We occasionally capture moments from our events to show the world what real-life connection actually looks like. When we do, it's done discreetly and mindfully — never disrupting your conversations. By attending a Lamu Dating event, you acknowledge that the event may be photographed or filmed. Your presence serves as consent for Lamu to use any photos or videos you may appear in for marketing and promotional purposes.

We never share names, contact details, or personal information without your explicit permission.

If you'd prefer not to appear in any media, let us know at support@lamu.life before the event and we'll do our best to accommodate.

We strive to foster a safe and welcoming environment at all Lamu Dating events. However, similar to any public outing, we cannot guarantee 100% safety. Please be aware that Lamu Dating currently does not conduct background checks on participants.

Our events are hosted in various third-party venues — cafes, bars, or restaurants — which are not owned or operated by Lamu Dating. Lamu Dating and its affiliates shall not be liable for any damages, injuries, or harm resulting from your participation in our events or any related activities. Your decision to attend is made with the understanding that you do so at your own risk.
